Things Your Dad Should've Taught You
Growing up, there are a lot of life lessons that dads should teach their sons, but not all of them do. Whether your dad was around or not, here are some essential truths that every teenager needs to hear.
1. Girls Care More About Your Spirit Than Your Looks
You might think that looking good is the key to getting girls to like you. Sure, it doesn’t hurt to look good, but the truth is, most girls are more interested in someone with positive energy, confidence, a sense of humor, and the ability to challenge her intellectually. Having these traits will get you much further than a six-pack or designer clothes ever will.
2. You Can’t Love Others More Than You Love Yourself
If you don’t love yourself, you won’t be able to truly love others. A lot of guys who constantly put others down, make fun of people, or seek attention through negativity do so because they don’t like themselves deep down. Instead of tearing others down to feel better, work on improving your self-worth. Confidence and self-respect are the foundations of healthy relationships and a fulfilling life.
3. The Loudest People Are Often in the most pain
Look at the people who dress obnoxiously, cover themselves in tattoos and piercings, or try to stand out by blasting music so everyone down the street can hear. While some do it because they genuinely love expressing themselves, many do it to mask deep insecurities and pain. The people who always have to be the loudest in the room are often struggling with things they don’t want others to see. Instead of judging them, try to understand that everyone has battles they’re fighting.
These are just a few lessons that every young man should know, whether they learned them from their dad or not. Stay tuned for Part 2, where we’ll dive into more things that will help you grow into the best version of yourself.
