The Power of Being Alone

Are you a loner looking for the benefits of alone? If so, you're not alone—no pun intended.

Growing up, I loved being by myself.

Why? Because being around others often left me exhausted, like carrying an invisible weight on my shoulders. Because every time I was around people, it felt like constant noise. My parents? Yap yap yap yap yap. My relatives? More yap yap yap. It was like I never had a voice of my own. It was draining—physically, mentally, emotionally. My body felt heavy, my energy disappeared, and my motivation sank.

But the moment I was alone? That’s when everything changed. That’s when I could breathe, when I could think, when I could just be.

Being alone isn't about isolating yourself from the world.

It's about recharging in a way that helps you navigate life better. For me, that recharge comes from doing things I love—playing video games, shooting hoops, or just diving into activities that bring me joy. It’s about rediscovering what I like, without external noise influencing my decisions.

Being alone all the time isn’t healthy either.

I’m not saying you should turn into a hermit and avoid human interaction forever. Socializing is important, but so is knowing when to step back and take a break. Without that recharge, you’ll never truly discover your own wants, needs, and passions.

Think about it

How often do your friends decide what movie to watch, what game to play, or where to eat? And when was the last time you got to choose something just for yourself?? When do you get to make the call? You can only start making choices for yourself when you truly understand what you want. And that happens when you spend time alone.

Being alone is like a breath of fresh air after being stuck in a room full of noise. Or better yet, like smelling strawberries after dunking your head into a pile of horse crap—it’s a much-needed contrast that helps you appreciate the good.

So, what do you do when you're alone?

How do you recharge? Drop a comment and let’s talk about it. And if this resonated with you, don’t forget to like and subscribe—I’ll catch you in the next one.
